Sick, birthday, postcrossing and general update

It is getting pretty annoying to be sick all the time… Yak. Yesterday my fiance celebrated his birthday and the whole appartment was full of people, and it was supposed to be fun, but all I could think about was: "Please not now, please not tonight" because my stumic hurt like hell and I was about to throw up.Sick Nothing happened (thank the Goddess fot that), but it wasn’t what you call fun. After all the people left I got really REALLY sick, so I haven’t had much sleep last night and I am really tired and now by back hurts to, because I didn’t get any rest. Sometimes it sucks to be me! :-(

Another thing that made the party kind of suck was two of my fiance’s friends. They are brothers and are the most egotistical people I have ever met. They just suck all the energy out of the room! When someone makes a joke they just have this blank stare on their face and when someone suggested to do something, they didn’t react. It is really horrible! I don’t know how my love managed to stay friends with them for over 10 years!

A couple of my postcards that I send trough Postcrossing.com have arrived at their destination, YAY! One of them took 17 days to get there, so it was about time that it got there. I have received 3 cards myself, and have sent 12, but the point is that some cards take such a long time to arrive, that I might have 12 cards myself, but they just haven’t arrived yet. Patience is a virtue I guess, I will just have to wait till they arrive! Do you want to know more about Postcrossing? Go to www.postcrossing.com !

What else… I am still sick from work, so won’t be going to work tomorrow. I guess I will be home for a while if this keeps up! The docter will be back from holiday in a few days so I hope she takes me seriously this time. I started to knit something (have no idea what, at least, not yet) and when it is finished I will post a picture of it. I found a different kind of stitch and it looks really gorgeous! Let me think….. oh right, almost forgot! My fiance (who I am going to call Rave from now on, my fiance is well….. not a name!) got a little gnome fountain for his birthday and although it is for his birthday, I absolutely love it! It fits in the whole fantasy and paganism theme we have going on in the living room, so it was a great gift.Yay!

Well that was it for now, I am going back to bed. Blessed Be everyone, Dana  )O(

Lughnasadh

Harvest20moon20ballDe day after tomorrow it is Lughnasadh (next saturday). That is, if you follow the fixed calander, like I do, If you dont it will be august 8th because of the sun. The name for this celebration comes from the God named Lugh, which means "shining one". This Sabbat is sometimes also called Lammas. It is the first harvest on the wheel of the year, and marks the end of summertime.

I just wanted to give some ideas for this celebration, although I will not be celebrating this year because I am sick and I dont want to send out my "sick" energie while I am worshipping and doing ritual. So, here goes :-)

Some ideas for your altar:

  • Decorate your altar with grain and corn dollies (I will do a blog on how to make those later)
  • Use a gold, yellow, red or orange altarcloth, and same goes for candles (Havest/fall colors)
  • Put a bowl of fruits on your altar that you harvested out of your own yard
  • Make your circle out of grain
  • Put things on your altar that remind you of harvest: Your altar is a very personal thing!

Some ideas on things you can do:

  • Tradition says that from the last bit of grain you make a doll wich reprisents the Mother Goddess. Paint its clothes dark red and keep it above your Fire place (and if you dont have one, your sacred space)
  • Bake! Since this is the harvest celebration, bake some cookies or bread and enjoy the harvest!
  • In ritual, thank the Mother Goddess for her gifts and offer some (home made)food
  • Give food to a homeless shelter and share the gifts of the Mother with people in need
  • Think about the things in your life that you can harvest now, like your diploma or some other things that you worked hard on this last year and thank the Mother for her Blessings in your life

Things to eat and drink:

  • Home made bread
  • Tea made from fresh herbs and sweetened with honey
  • Fruits from this season, that you (if possible) harvested yourself
  • Drink some whine, both during ritual and during your meals (or grapejuice if you dont drink alcohol)
  • If you do eat meat: rabbit and deer are suitable (all wild)

That is it for now… I will do a more detailed blog on Lammas later on, right now I really need to go ly down, getting a bit dizzy :-( Anyway: hope this helps, and I hope everyone has a wonderful harvest celebration!

Blessed Be!  Dana  )O(

Sick…. again

I went to see the doctor this morning, and I went to see her for two reasons:

  1. My back hurts like hell
  2. I cant keep any food down/in

For the first she came with a simple solution: I need to rest, keep my back warm, take painkillers and…. find another job! OMG! Where am I supposed to find another job in this time of financial crisis? I am lucky that I have a job, and now I need to give it up? ……That said, I know she’s right. This is the 4th time this year, and I cant keep this up, I will ruin my back permanently. I used to work as a nurse, and now I clean for a living, but I need to find a job that is much less phycical (I know this isn’t written the right way…). So, jobhunting again… I just hope I can find something!

As for the second: I need to wait almost two weeks for my own doctor to come back from het vacation before I can have that looked at. *Cry* What am I supposed to do in the meantime???
